In its debut competition, Reinhardt University’s Cybersecurity Club placed in the top 10 percent of more than 7,000 teams worldwide. Led by Club President Alejandro Sanchez (RU-2026) and member Connor Gibson (RU-2029), the team solved 48 different challenges at the Holmes Capture the Flag (CTF) 2025. The tournament provided valuable exposure to digital forensics, malware analysis, and network defense, and reinforced the club’s commitment to developing practical cybersecurity expertise.

Founded this Fall by Sanchez, a double major in computer science and cybersecurity, the new club offers a hub for students interested in technology, digital safety, and innovation. “It was created to build a collaborative community where students can connect, learn, and apply their knowledge through hands-on experiences,” explained Sanchez.

Open to all majors, the Cybersecurity Club offers workshops, digital challenges, and guest speakers that help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world cybersecurity practice.
