Reinhardt’s Price School of Education will take on a unique role in a process they undergo every year to ensure the quality of education programs throughout the state of Georgia.
The Price School of Education (PSOE) was selected to serve as a Host Institution for the 2019 Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Site Visitor Training. Dean of the PSOE, Dr. Nancy Marsh, will be trained as the Site Visitor Chair, a role that upholds the standards of the Professional Standards Commission in programs that are training students to become certified educators.
Those attending the Site Visitor Training will examine and practice the evaluation process with evidence provided by the PSOE, along with the school’s program reports. PSOE professors, adjuncts and students will attend the meeting for trainees to conduct simulated interviews.
Marsh sees this opportunity as a way to showcase the efforts of Reinhardt’s education program.
“The invitation to serve as the Host Institution allows the PSOE to make public our students’ and professors’ excellent work,” said Marsh.
With the PSOE on display at this training, any college or university in the state of Georgia will be able to see the school’s data.
“Our reports confirm how we have effectively implemented instructional strategies, which continue to place our students’ edTPA scores higher than edTPA scores in Georgia and the nation,” Marsh said.
Marsh also believes this representation will benefit Reinhardt University as a whole, allowing the University to be seen as a school whose education majors graduate with “a level of knowledge and rigor required to be a highly effective teacher.”
The 2019 GaPSC Site Visitor training will take place Oct. 7-9 at the Wyndham Atlanta Galleria. The GaPSC peer review process is one that ensures that the programs leading future educators towards certification are meeting standards of preschool-12th grade schools in the state of Georgia.
