Reinhardt alum Fabersha Flynt tossed the coin at this year’s Super Bowl.
Flynt graduated in 2003 from Reinhardt University as a History major. “I wasn’t a traditional student; I was 26 or 27 at the time enrolled full-time. But it was a great experience! I enjoyed all of the faculty and staff that were there, and still are there today, like Dr. Theresa Ast, Dr. Kenneth Wheeler, and Dr. Walter May.”
She states that the university truly prepared her for the workplace, and made her realize what specifically she wanted to do in higher education, which was leadership. Flynt is now the Executive Director of Adult Education over the Walton County campus for Athens Technical College.
Super Bowl 2023 took place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Football player Pat Tilman who played for the Arizona Cardinals created a foundation called the Pat Tillman Foundation which awarded remarkable military service members, veterans, and spouses with academic scholarships. Because the Super Bowl took place in Arizona, they wanted to select someone who was a Pat Tilman Scholar to flip the coin.
“I was picked because I was a scholar. I still don’t know how they picked me out of everyone else! It was awesome, just even leading up and having a conversation with J.J. Watt and speaking with everyone there, it was just a wonderful experience. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s a $10,000 ticket, how many people can say they did that?!”
