Have you ever wondered what it would look like if golf balls fell from the sky? Well, Oct. 9 is your lucky day. At 6:30 p.m. 2,000 golf balls will rain down from a helicopter onto a target at the BridgeMill Athletics Club in Canton. The Drop, hosted by Reinhardt University Athletics is a new fundraiser to support Reinhardt’s student-athletes. The goal is to raise $100,000 to benefit the University’s student-athletes and athletic programs. Prizes are awarded for the nine balls that land closest to the pin and the one ball that lands farthest away. The ball closest to the target wins $20,000.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Reinhardt athletes have continued to excel over the past year accumulating numerous awards. Additionally, student athletes held a combined GPA of 3.23 during the 2020-21 academic year, and 20 Eagle teams qualified for National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Team honors (must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average).

“We are beyond proud of our athletes, both on the field and off,” said Jeffrey Pourchier, Director of Athletics. “We want to continue to support them in every way possible, which means continued improvement to our athletic facilities and our student-athlete experience.”

Golf balls are available for purchase online at through Oct. 8. Golf balls are $100 each and include admission for one person to The Drop reception. Additional reception tickets are available for purchase for $50.
