Black History Month Showcase, 2020

Reinhardt University’s Student Affairs plans to honor Black History Month with a variety of fun and informative events for students.

Student Affairs and student-led organization Black and Resilience (BAR) will host events throughout February to educate students and celebrate African American history and culture, enabling all students to find their voice.

The Black History Month events include:

  • Friday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. – Talent Night 
  • Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. – Just Mercy movie night 
  • Monday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. – Finding Your Voice While Pursuing a Career in Science (Virtual)
    • Canton, Georgia resident Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd will host “Finding Your Voice While Pursuing a Career in Science.” Shepherd is a leading international expert in weather and climate. He is the Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor of Geography and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Georgia.
  • Monday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. – RU Leads featuring Denisha Austin, student financial aid counselor
  • Friday, Feb. 19 at 9 p.m. – Soul Food Demonstration
    • Learn how to cook traditional Soul Food dishes
  • Sunday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. – Black History Month Bingo 
  • Friday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. – Black History Month Showcase, sponsored by the School of Performing Arts (Virtual)
    • The African American School of Performing Arts (AASOPA) is hosting a virtual showcase, where students will perform various talents including dance, jazz, spoken word and different styles of singing.
