Henri Talmage Dobbs III (RU-1996) passed away peacefully in West Palm Beach, Florida on March 25, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1942, Dobbs attended the University of Georgia, University of Miami, and Georgia State University. At the age of 52, he resumed his studies, attaining his degree from Reinhardt University.

Dobbs took pride in his path, endowing the Talmage Dobbs 1996 Scholarship Endowment for Non-Traditional Business Students, intended for older Reinhardt students who, like him, had a unique world view. He said at the time “No one can steal your education, never give up, ask to do extra credit and finish.”

He embraced doing things his own way. After a brief stint at an insurance company founded by his family, he went into the car business where he combined his passion for automobiles with his ability to connect with people. A fixture in the motorsports community, he was famously irreverent; taking great delight showing up to Ferrari events in Corvettes and arriving at Corvette gatherings in Ferraris, just to keep everyone on their toes.

His greatest partnership began on a tennis court where he booked a four-hour session to get a “captive audience” with a woman named Georgia who later became his wife. Their bond transitioned to a formidable racing duo, earning her Track Champion status and his Crew Chief of the Year honors at Palm Beach International Raceway. They also became parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.

Dobbs’ energy, enthusiasm, and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
