Mary Jane Reinhardt Sharp would have been proud last weekend, when the 2021-22 Scholars united for a special breakfast reception at the President’s Home with their friends and families. They were greeted by President Roberts, who presented certificates to each recipient and shared the story of Mary Jane’s life – and how this honor of her legacy holds great responsibility and opportunity.
During the reception, Dr. John D. Miles, vice president of academic affairs, shared the vision for the Sharp Scholarship program, and discussed the responsibilities to be assumed by the honorees.
“Sharp Scholars engage in a cohort experience where they can network and partner with University leaders — who become their mentors – during their time at Reinhardt. With their mentors, they engage in meetings and discussions about their interests, map a plan for their time at Reinhardt and create personal and professional goals. They also participate in a formal mentoring program that culminates with the preparation for a national certification in Coaching. Sharp Scholars will have tremendous opportunity to build on their experiences, extend networks of connections and relationships, and gain a certification that translates well into their professional lives.”
“We are eager to see these relationships flourish, amidst the many talents that our Sharp Scholars share with our Reinhardt community – and beyond, shared President Roberts. “My hope is that our Sharp Scholars become mentors to younger generations of Reinhardt students and play active roles as Alumni, building a strong future for our University.”
Congratulations to this year’s Sharp Scholars: Rosalynn Burns, Jenna Gonzalez, Phoebe Hart, Samuel Kopeski, Jacqueline McCone, Delainey Moore, Isabel Walkup, La’Maya Matthew, and Haley Martin.
“Being a Sharp Scholar means so much to me! It means that I have genuinely accomplished something,” said La’Maya Matthew ’25. “Between all my hard work and the wonderful God I serve, I’ve been able to receive many blessings just like this one.”
