The director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Affairs Office (TECO) in Atlanta, Jared Lin, visited the Reinhardt campus on February 5, 2026. His visit served as a unique opportunity to engage with one of Taiwan’s leading diplomatic voices.
The distinguished guest, with over 20 years of diplomatic experience, presented his wealth of expertise to students, faculty, and staff. The interactive program was also live-streamed to attendees from other colleges and universities across the eastern U.S. who are members of the International Studies Consortium of Georgia (ISCOG), the event’s co-organizer.
Lin began with a fun and informative quiz for attendees to get to know Taiwan, a country one-fourth the size of Georgia with a global impact. He went on to tell the packed auditorium about Taiwan’s economic, social, cultural, and political aspects, and its strategic importance in the Indo-Pacific. He also stressed Taiwan’s critical role in the production of semiconductors, needed for nearly every electronic device to function worldwide.
While speaking on international cooperation, global engagement, and U.S.-Taiwan Relations, he expressed his commitment to creating new opportunities through partnerships, economics, education, cultural programs, and community dialogue. ”It’s very important for us to let our American friends know that due to America’s assistance, Taiwan is growing up, is becoming stronger, and with that development, there are many opportunities we could use to further our relationship,” Lin expressed. “I want to spread the message to show our appreciation, to encourage the people-to-people engagement, even the government-to-government engagement, as I work on developing closer relationships.”
