As Reinhardt continues to expand its technology programs, student leadership also expands and develops. Among these emerging leaders is Alejandro “Alex” Sanchez (RU-2026), a double major in cybersecurity and computer science who strives to launch a cybersecurity student organization on campus.

Sanchez proposed creating the Cyber Eagles club to unite students passionate about cybersecurity and to promote hands-on learning. While he awaits official approval, interested students have begun meeting. “Our mission is to create a strong community where we learn cybersecurity skills and push our limits in the field. We focus on gaining experience, supporting each other, and growing as a team. We’re now 11 members strong — and growing,” he explained.

His motivation also connects to Reinhardt’s strategic development in the technology sector. In addition to the established cybersecurity major, the University introduced computer science and information technology management majors in Fall 2024, bringing the total to three distinct technology-focused programs. Sanchez explained the new computer science major was appealing to pursue, “because it delves much deeper into concepts.”

Each major prepares students for in-demand careers. Cybersecurity focuses on risk assessment, network security, and the implementation of security protocols. Computer science emphasizes programming, databases, and the mathematical foundations of computing. Information technology management includes training in networking operations, system management, and project leadership.

Whether through innovative coursework or student-led organizations like the Cyber Eagles, Reinhardt is equipping students like Alex Sanchez to lead in the ever-changing technology landscape.
