A small cohort of Reinhardt students, led by Chaplain Grant Perry, spent nearly two weeks of their winter break serving others. Matthew Bowman (RU-2026), Courtney Kull (RU-2027), Vinny Varsalona (RU-Dec 2025), and Perry traveled to Peru for a mission trip focused on rebuilding churches, medical support, and spiritual outreach.

“It truly was a life-changing and eye-opening experience,” stated Kull. “Seeing the joy, faith, and gratitude of the people we served — despite having so little — completely shifted my perspective. This trip taught me humility, gratitude, and the importance of trusting God even when we don’t have all the answers. It reminded me that sometimes obedience comes before understanding.”

Based in Lima, the group traveled to nearby communities where their efforts included installing school windows, revitalizing deteriorating church walls, and leading vacation Bible schools for the children. They volunteered at a health clinic, serving over 150 people in just one day – providing education on handwashing, dental care, and nutrition, along with supplying reading glasses, sunglasses, and vaccines.

The mission brought healing, encouragement, and renewal to several communities and created stronger foundations for health, education, faith, and fellowship. It also left a lasting impact on the Reinhardt team. Perry reflected, “The trip was a success for these students because it expanded the world in which they are called to show God’s love.”
