Now that Reinhardt University is home of two performance spaces, the Falany Performing Arts Center and University Theater, there are a variety of opportunities to enjoy entertainment this spring on campus.
Mark your calendars for the following upcoming events.
The University Choirs
On April 7 at 3 p.m., the University Choirs will showcase their vocal performance pieces in Flint Hall at Falany Performing Arts Center that are sure to impress. The University Choirs is comprised of the Reinhardt Chorale and the Reinhardt University Concert Choir, both under the direction of Dr. Martha Shaw. The Chamber Singers – now known as the Reinhardt Chorale — traveled to Italy in May 2018 to study and perform at the Vatican. The Concert Choir is the University’s largest choir and includes the student body and members of the local community. This performance is free and open to the public.
Convocation of Artists & Scholars
On April 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Flint Hall, the performing arts portion of the Convocation of Artists & Scholars will present some of Reinhardt’s finest talent. The Convocation of Artists & Scholars is spread out across April 9 and 10 and allows students across campus to present their hard work from the school year. This event is free and open to the public.
Concerto Competition
The Concerto Competition will take place April 10 at 6 p.m. in Flint Hall. This annual spring competition provides instrumental music majors with the chance to compete to play and perform solos with the RU Wind Ensemble.
“Being featured in this solo setting, accompanied by a major university ensemble in concert, is an honor and tribute to their fine preparation and work ethic,” said Dr. Daniel Kirk, director of instrumental activities.
Three judges will critique and decide on a winner, announced at the close of the competition. This event is free and open to the public.
“The Good Times are Killing Me”
The University Theatre program presents “The Good Times are Killing Me,” a musical that displays the hardships of an interracial friendship in the United States in the 1960s. Performances will take place April 11-13 at 7:30 p.m. and April 13-14 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12.50.
RU Ensemble Concerts
Come see the Reinhardt University Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Nathaniel Lee, show off what they can do on April 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Flint Hall. The Reinhardt Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Anton Harris, will take the Flint Hall stage on April 16 at 7:30 p.m., along with the RU Wind Ensemble Concert, led by Kirk, will perform April 23 at 7:30 p.m. All Reinhardt Ensemble concerts are free and open to the public.
RU Clarinet Studio Recital
The Reinhardt University Clarinet Studio will host their recital on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. on the Flint Hall stage.
People of ‘Hardt Concert
Reinhardt’s a cappella groups, ‘Hardt Breakers and Men of ‘Hardt, will combine to perform as the People of ‘Hardt. They will harmonize together on April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Flint Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
