Spring semester officially begins Monday and the week kicks off several events to welcome students back to campus. Residence halls open at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The Office of Student Activities has a full line-up of events planned to get the semester rolling and students involved.

A Unity Project will be held daily from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the front lawn of Gordy Residence Hall.

Unity is an interactive public art project that examines how labels both help and hinder one’s ability to come together as a nation and human race.

“Unity is about examining your own, intersectional identity and how that relates and differs from the experiences of others. Unity is made to strengthen our Reinhardt community as we enter the New Year,” said Meredith Keating, coordinator for Programming and Service.

Much like the start of the 2016-17 academic year, there will be a Late Night Breakfast Monday night from 10 p.m. to midnight, where faculty and staff serve students a late night meal in the Gordy Dining Center.

“Warm up with pancakes, eggs, sausage, and other breakfast food after your first day of class,” Keating said. “SAC and SGA will host games throughout the event. Reinhardt freshman, DJ Quan, will be playing music throughout the night.”

Other events geared at getting students involved are:

Give the gift of life at the American Red Cross blood drive at the Bannister Glasshouse from noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 10. Register ahead of time at redcrossblood.org and enter the code REINHARDT.

The Involvement Fair: The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 11 in the Bannister Glasshouse, Hasty Student Life Center. It is an opportunity for students to learn more about the clubs and organizations on campus.

Trivia Night: Have fun from 8-10 p.m. in the Glasshouse and test your trivia skills with your fellow Eagles.  Recommended team sizes are six to eight people. Those without teams will be paired up. Trivia topics include current events, sports, music, history, theme nights and more. First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded.

Eagle Cinema: Sit back, relax and enjoy “Space Jam” with Shaquille O’Neal from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in the Glasshouse.

90s Night: Dance the night away in your favorite 90s outfit in the Glasshouse as DJ Quan spins hits from the 90s.
