Come and get a taste of what your daughter or son is experiencing at Reinhardt. Current students, parents and siblings are invited to a weekend full of activities, informative panel discussions, and sporting events. Enjoy all that Reinhardt has to offer and time with your Eagle.

Attend a class, eat meals with students in the dining hall. Enjoy the beauty of the Arboretum, lake and trails. There are a multitude of events available on for your family to enjoy! No formal agenda is set for Family Weekend, however, there are events for families with a variety of interests. We encourage you to attend as many events as possible and to enjoy a great weekend at Reinhardt!

Thursday, September 14

7:30 p.m.

   Joe Gransden and his Big Band [Falany Performing Arts Center]

Renowned first for the hard bop approach of his trumpet, Joe Gransden’s singing voice has been compared to that of Chet Baker and Frank Sinatra. The Joe Gransden 16 Piece Big Band is quickly becoming one of the busiest groups on the jazz scene. Originally formed in 2009, Joe and the guys have continued to build momentum and are performing numerous shows around the country. Their new release, entitled “It’s A Beautiful Thing”, is getting radio air play around the world. A rising star in the jazz world, Joe and his Big Band are not one to miss. Purchase tickets HERE

   RU Green "Movie Under the Stars" [Donor Plaza]

Bewildering predictions about our planet’s future? What to do? Join RU Green at the Donor Plaza at 8:15pm for a "Movie Under the Stars". We will be showing the award winning 1 hour film YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip) YERT is a fun eco-documentary about a year-long eco-expedition through all 50 United States. With video camera in hand and tongue in cheek, exploring the landscape of America's unique approach to environmental sustainability. RU Green will have free Soda and Snacks. Bring a friend!!    Family Weekend Check-in/Information [Hasty Student Life Center]

Stop by to sign-in, pick up your name tags and schedule of events.

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

   Attend Class (Various locations)

Parents are invited to sit in on classes with their students to get a sense of the educational experience their daughters and sons are having at Reinhardt. These are the regularly scheduled classes attended by students, and where space is available parents are welcome to sit in the back of the classroom and observe. Students must make prior arrangements with their instructors.

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

   Tour the Funk Heritage Center (Museum)

The Funk Heritage Center on the campus of Reinhardt University is Georgia's official frontier and Southeastern Indian interpretive center. The Heritage Center is also certified by the National Park Service Trail of Tears as an interpretive site. The Bennett History Museum is focused on interpreting the history of the Southeastern Indians and Appalachian settlers of the region. In this modern facility, there are interactive exhibits, a 15-minute film, contemporary Native American art and thousands of historic hand tools displayed in a special gallery. Walking trails lead to a native plant garden and to the Appalachian Settlement located behind the museum facility. There, you will find 19th century farm buildings and historic log cabins.    RESPYs Athletic Awards Banquet (Brown Athletic Center)

The stars of Reinhardt University Athletics will shine at the 2017 Reinhardt Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (RESPY) Awards banquet. The Inaugural RESPY Awards honor the best of the best of Reinhardt University’s student-athletes and coaches. The awards highlight their hard work in the classroom and in game play. Reinhardt welcomes the families and the surrounding community to join in this celebration of accomplishments. We've all dreamed of being a “Rockstar,” now is your chance. The event is free, family friendly, and open to all guests. Light refreshments will be available. Saturday, September 16

   5K for ADay (Downtown Canton)

Lace up and run on for Reinhardt University’s 5K for ADay. This is an exhilarating way to exercise and raise money for Cherokee County residents attending Reinhardt University. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishes. The top three finishers in each age group also will earn a trophy. Deadline is Sept. 1.    Exploring the World with Study Abroad and Internship Opportunities (Hill-Freeman Library)

At Reinhardt learning opportunities extend beyond the classroom. Take this chance to explore the range of internships and study abroad opportunities available to Reinhardt students. Travel to far away places such as Greece, Mexico, Italy and Europe. In addition, Reinhardt students complete internships in the corporate, medical, nonprofit and in a variety of other fields. This information session, geared toward parents, covers many aspects of study abroad and internship including planning and logistics.

   Don’t Just Survive – Thrive! (Hill-Freeman Library)

Students who thrive in college succeed academically, manage the demands of college, have healthy relationships, and take care of themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Dr. Mark Roberts, Provost, and Dr. Mel Norwood, Dean of Students, will share ways in which Reinhardt and families can help students thrive.

   Family Weekend Lunch Buffet (Gordy Dining Center)

Enjoy an all-you-can-eat game day buffet prepared by Reinhardt’s Food Services. Take this opportunity to socialize with other students and their families. For those not on a meal plan, please pay on site.

1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

   Family Weekend Rec Fest (Intramural Field)

This event will give students and their families the opportunity to experience what Intramural Sports at Reinhardt is all about. Bring your competitive spirit and get ready to enjoy Bubble Soccer, Kan Jam, Corn Hole, Disc Golf, Kick Ball and Ultimate Frisbee!

1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

   Canvas Painting (Intramural Field, under the tents)

Come out to paint with the Student Activities Council (SAC)! Bring only your creativity and artistic talent! We'll bring the canvas and the paint! Kick back, relax and do a little painting with your RU family.

2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

   Guided hike on the campus trails (Trail head kiosk)

Feeling adventurous? Join Reinhardt Outdoors for a 2.5 mile hike on the university trails. The hike is moderately strenuous. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. Water is recommended. Meet at the Trail Head Kiosk behind the gym.

   Family Weekend Dinner Buffet (Gordy Dining Center)

Come see the Reinhardt University Women’s Soccer team take on the Buffaloes of Milligan College!

   Game on with Laser Tag (Glasshouse)

Looking for an adrenaline rush? This is your opportunity to play or watch as families try their skills at laser tag. Make sure you arrive early to sign up for your time slot, as they typically fill up fast! The event is free, family friendly, and open to all guests. Light refreshments will be available. This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Council.

Sunday, September 17

9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

   Reinhardt Outdoors Whitewater Rafting Trip

Join Reinhardt Outdoors for an exciting river rafting trip down Carolina's shimmering Nantahala River. The Nantahala features eight miles of practice on Class II rapids before splashing through the exciting Class III whitewater of Nantahala Falls. This is one of America’s most popular whitewater runs!
