Choosing a career path, selecting a focus, and determining a path to success can be challenging. A program at Reinhardt helps students discover how their interests and majors can be parlayed into various sectors and create connections with people in those fields.

The Spring 2024 Workforce Wednesday series kicked off on January 24th with a Careers in Health session. Students networked with representatives from Children Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory Healthcare, Northside Hospital Cherokee, and Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center.

Kaliah Wimbush (RU2026) aspires to become an athletic trainer. Following the experience, she noted that hearing the panelists discuss their career journeys, their organizations, and the different types of employment opportunities available within the healthcare industry conveyed valuable insights. Becoming an EMT or paramedic interests Caroline Small (RU2026). She enthusiastically relayed, “I am so glad I went because it is beneficial to have as many connections as possible. Now having business cards or LinkedIn connections of four different healthcare fields and providers can be a game changer when trying to get into any industry. I hope more students show interest!”

Emery Healthcare representative Dr. Paola Buitrago agrees on the benefits of the in-person sessions, “By hearing directly from professionals who have navigated the challenges and opportunities within their respective fields, students gain valuable perspectives. In turn, better preparing them for the realities of the workforce. Interacting with industry experts allows students to expand their professional network, forge connections with potential mentors or employers, and gain access to internship or job opportunities. These connections can significantly enhance the student’s career prospects and open doors to future collaborations and partnerships.”

Entrepreneurship and Sales will be the topic on February 21st. Learning from experts in this field will be helpful for those looking to start and grow a business or launch a career in sales. A session on March 20th will benefit students interested in a career in Fitness, Recreation, Sports, and Wellness.
