Piano Festival & Academy
June 6 – 10
The Piano Festival & Academy is a weeklong program for high school students. The Festival division is for students who are intermediate or advanced level pianists, while the Academy division is for advanced to highly advanced pianists. Students will attend daily classes and evening concerts, and have masterclass and performance opportunities. Funk Heritage Center Youth Workshop
June 7 – 9
Children ages 7-11 will explore local legends and folklore! Each day will begin with a story and followed by a day of activities where they will explore and expand on aspects of the story. The stories for this year are: The First Strawberries, A Cherokee Story; The Great Ball Game, A Muskogee Story; and

NOYCE DNA Barcoding Summer STEM Experience
June 14, 16, 21 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and June 23 from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

MFA Summer Reading Schedule

Join Reinhardt and the Master of Fine Arts program as we welcome novelists, essayists, poets, memoirists, and more to campus for the MFA Summer Residency. Each evening of the residency week guest writers and graduating students will read selections from their work in the Community Room of the Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center. Grand Opening – George Scarbrough Center for Southern and Appalachian Literature

Reinhardt is excited to open the George Scarbrough Center for Southern and Appalachian Literature, an archive for the Tennessee poet’s papers, books, and memorabilia. Join us for the opening followed a day-long Symposium with Reinhardt faculty and special guests to celebrate the life and work of Scarbrough.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Landmarks Workshop at the Funk Heritage Center
July 10 -15, July 17 -22
Theme: Trail of Tears: Context and Perspectives
Reinhardt faculty and visiting lecturers invite educators to critically examine the process of the Cherokee Removal and to explore the multiple impacts it had on the people and the lands they inhabited. The workshop, geared toward educators, will focus on the experience of place and will encourage the use of tools like inquiry-based learning, using the unique resources of the Funk Heritage Center and other certified sites on the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.
